Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a homicide that took place inside a Dix Hills residence early Tuesday afternoon. A police presence was still seen at the Penn Drive home early on Wednesday morning.
The 74-year-old man, identified as Armindo Reis, lived alone in the house. When neighbors could not get in contact with him, they called his son. Reis's son found his father unconscious, around 6:15 p.m., and called 911. Upon arriving on the scene, Suffolk County Police Second Precinct officers discovered that Reis sustained a gunshot wound.
Reis was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
