Around 7 a.m., an ambulette driver was fatally struck by a car after stopping on the side of Route 135.

On May 22, 2019 at 7:10 a.m., a male ambulette driver was fatally struck by a vehicle after stopping on the shoulder of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Syosset. Nassau County Police Department Detectives say that the ambulette driver stopped to speak to the driver of a second vehicle who was following behind him. A third vehicle then sideswiped both the ambulette and the second vehicle, striking the driver fatally.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the cars remained at the scene of the accident. Officials confirm that the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he received from being hit by the car.

The Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway remains closed in the southbound direction at the Jericho Turnpike entrance due to an ongoing police investigation.
