Car Slams Into Tree After Exiting Long Island Expressway

A single car crash caused delays and multiple other fender benders in Plainview, New York, earlier Tuesday night.

Nassau County Police Department Highway Patrol Officers responded to reports of a single car accident just east of the Sunnyside Boulevard, Exit 46W for the Long Island Expressway. The only occupant of the vehicle was the driver, who was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition. The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday night in Plainview, New York.

The vehicle, crossing a bike path, collided with a tree at a moderate rate of speed. The force of the impact totaled the vehicle.

NCPD Highway Patrol Officials were seen investigating where the vehicle could have possibly exited the Long Island Expressway, and what events led up to the dramatic single car accident on the westbound service road.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Autumn Drive and the LIE West Service Road, in front of the Seasons at Plainview.
