Child Airlifted After Being Struck by Car Near Long Island School

A child is in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Bethpage, New York.

A child is in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Bethpage, New York, earlier Wednesday afternoon. The unidentified child was hit by a car near the intersection of Broadway and Dorothy Street. The driver of the vehicle, who was traveling northbound on Broadway before the accident, stayed on the scene.

The incident took place near John F. Kennedy Middle School in Bethpage. Residents of the neighborhood ran to assist the young child, who attends JFK Middle School. A large crowd gathered around the scene, which took the normally quiet neighborhood by surprise.

Nassau County Police airlifted the child to a nearby hospital in a serious condition. Police detectives are currently investigating the scene of the accident.

Broadway will remain shut down in both directions near Dorothy Street as a result of an ongoing police investigation.

The person that got by the car hit was a girl that i would give the name of but i don't think i have full permission to give and she does in fact go to JFK middle school.She was seen with friends crossing the street before given medical attention by oncoming drivers.
