Child Airlifted After Being Struck By Car Near Long Island School

A child is in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Bethpage, New York.

A child was struck by a car traveling northbound on Broadway in Bethpage, New York, earlier Wednesday afternoon. The unidentified child, who is in a serious condition, had to be airlifted by Nassau County Police to a local hospital to be treated for the serious injuries.

The incident took place near John F. Kennedy Middle School, which is located further north on Broadway in Bethpage.

Large crowds of residents and children gathered around the scene, which took the quiet neighborhood by surprise.

Nassau County Police detectives are still investigating the scene, which has Broadway closed down in both directions around the intersection of Dorothy Street.
