Heavy Rain Floods Long Island Streets During Rush Hour

A strong storm lead to serious flooding in some Long Island communities earlier Saturday evening.

The evening commute was delayed and interrupted through some Long Island communities on Saturday evening after a storm passed through the area. Heavy rainfall resulted in flooding of streets and some homes.

In Lindenhurst, the intersection of Straight Path and Wellwood Avenue was victim to large amounts of water gathering in and around the intersection, making the evening commute for many drivers difficult.

Some drivers found themselves getting stuck in the unexpectedly high levels of water in the area. Other drivers attempted to avoid the intersection completely.

The road was not shut down, although drivers were urged to approach the intersection with caution by other motorists and bystanders.
