Lindenhurst Man Shot While Sitting in Car on Residential Street

A Lindenhurst man was shot in West Babylon while sitting in his car on Commander Avenue at around 3:40 p.m.

Suffolk County Police Department officials are investigating a shooting that took place on Commander Avenue at around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 23rd, 2019. A Lindenhurst man, 24, was shot while sitting inside his car outside of a residence, on the street, near the corner of Straight Path and Commander Avenue. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Suffolk County Police utilized K9 officers to attempt to trace a location where the subject fled, or to look for any other evidence that may have been hidden.

Many residents in the area say that the neighborhood is made up of families, and that gun violence wasn't a common factor on that street until today.
