Police Pursuit Leads to Crash in Union County New Jersey Town

Police converged on Robin Hood Road in Mountainside, New Jersey, after a suspect crashed following a pursuit.

On Friday June 7, 2019, around 3:30 p.m., Union Police Department were attempting to stop a vehicle when the suspect fled from officers. Officers chased the suspect westbound on Route 22 for an unknown distance. The blue pickup truck eventually crashed at the intersection of Robin Hood Road and Route 22 in Mountainside, New Jersey.

Police are providing little details on what exactly transpired. Sources say once the suspect crashed, he bailed on foot with a handgun in his possession. There are unconfirmed reports that shots were fired when the suspect bailed from the vehicle. The blue pickup truck sustained significant front end damage following the crash.

Police from the Union County Sheriff Office and Mountainside Police blocked off Robin Hood Road and Larkspur Drive as the investigation began. The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The investigation is continuing.
