Security Guard Injured, One Dead After Drive-By Shooting in New Jersey

A security guard among victims wounded after drive-by shooting in Paterson, New Jersey, Thursday evening.

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, Paterson Police Officers responded to a ShotSpotter Activation after 18 shots were registered on the system. Police arrived and found 3 victims suffering from gunshot wounds outside the Riverview Towers on Presidential Boulevard. Law enforcement sources say a 25-year-old man was killed outside the apartment complex in what is being described as drive-by shooting.

Sources say one of victims shot was a security guard. Its not clear whether the guard worked at the Riverview Towers. The ShotSpotter activation registered 18 shots. Police recovered 15 out of the 18 shell casings. The security guard was shot twice in the stomach and another victim was shot in the hip. One of the three victims was declared deceased from their injuries. No arrests have been made as of early Friday morning.
