White Center, WA: Around 11 p.m., emergency crews received several reports of multiple homes on fire in the 10200 block of 10th Avenue South in White Center.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames from both residents with a power line down. Immediately it was reported to the fire crews that someone was still inside one of the homes. Crews worked quickly to enter the residence in an attempt to locate and evacuate the reported person inside.
Due to multiple homes being on fire and rescue operations needed a 2nd alarm was struck to help fight this inferno.
When crews searched the home reportedly to have an occupant still inside, they located one male victim and brought them outside. That victim died on scene.
At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The name and cause of death will be released by the King County Medical Examiner's Office at a later time.
Neighbors state that fireworks were to blame for this fatal fire. King County Sheriff's Office state they will know for sure by Monday. They state the fire started at the house on the left spreading to the occupied home on the right. That home was occupied by a male and female and two dogs. The male in his 70 perished in the fire as well as one dog. One dog is missing and the female escaped.
