3 Injured, 1 Seriously and 3 Arrested in I-5 Crash in Federal Way

Three people were taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries, after a high speed crash in Federal Way.

Federal Way, WA: Around 9:30 a.m., crews responded to a reported 5 vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 5 north of South 317th.

When crews arrived they found several vehicles with heavy damage and at least one occupant could not free themselves from their vehicle.

Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate that person from their vehicle.

According to Washington State Patrol 3 person were transported from the scene. 2 with minor injuries and 1 with serious but not life threatening injuries.

The vehicle that caused the collision was reported to be driving on the left shoulder at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Those occupants fled the scene after the collision but since have been apprehended.

Troopers are looking into a report of a carjacking in the area that happened just prior to this incident.

Troopers did have three northbound lanes shut down during the response and two lanes closed for the investigation snarling the morning commute.

Just before 1 p.m. all lanes had been reopened.
