Afternoon Fire Damages Apartment Complex, Fatally Injures Resident in Parkland

Parkland, WA: Just before 3:30 p.m. today crews with Central Pierce Fire and Rescue were dispatched the the Willow Apartments located in the 2200 block of 112th Street South.

While responding dispatch updated the call stating one person was trapped inside the fire building. Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a second floor unit.

Crews initiated a fast and aggressive offensive attack on the fire. Crews were able to bring it under control quickly to avoid further damage.

Crews did remove one victim from the building but sadly Central Pierce Fire and Rescue confirmed that victim, a female, died in the fire.

Both the cause of the fire and death are under investigation by the Pierce County Fire Marshall’s Office
