Des Moines Officer Hurt in Crash Responding to Assist Officers

The officer was responding to assisting officers out with a theft suspect at the Safeway when the crash occurred.

Des Moines, WA: At around 6 p.m., Officers were called to the Safeway in the 27200 block of Pacific Highway for someone committing a theft. That subject committing the crime was not complying with officers and more were called in to assist.

While one of those officers were responding, they were involved in a collision in the intersection of south 272nd and 16th avenue south.

We have reached out to Federal Way Police who is investigating the crash for more information.

From what our photographer was able to see, a female officer was transported from the scene and the driver of the other vehicle and the 3 children inside that vehicle were not transported though the driver appeared to be walking with a limp.

Also appears South King Fire and Rescue stayed behind to help transfer groceries from the mangled vehicle to another so they could make it home and not spoil.
