Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting in Parkland

Parkland, WA: Pierce County detectives need your help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of 32-year-old John Willie Smith IV.

At 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019, a passerby reported seeing a man laying in the roadway at A Street and 106th Street E. in Parkland. When deputies arrived at the location, they found victim John Smith deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

Several neighbors reported hearing gunshots at approximately 12:00 a.m., shortly before Smith’s body was found.

The victim lived one block away from the scene of the shooting. Detectives are looking for any information on the suspect(s) responsible for the homicide, including information on any suspicious persons or vehicles seen in the area around the time of the shooting.
