Driver Suffering Medical Emergency Hits and Injures Pedestrian

Medical emergency leads to crash, pedestrian suffers serious injury.

Renton, WA: Crews with Renton Police and Renton Regional Fire Authority responded to the Wal-Mart, located 743 Rainier Ave. S, around 2pm for a reported serious injury vehicle vs pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, crews found a male driver suffering from a possible medical emergency and a 30 year old female on the ground.

The male was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition.

The female was transported to a local hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Police state the van was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to leaving the roadway and striking the pedestrian and tree.

Parts of the vehicle were thrown over a 100 feet from the impact site.
