Duplex evacuated, flash bangs deployed in stand-off with armed and dangerous suspect.

Puyallup, WA: Investigators arrived at a duplex on the corner of 9th Avenue SW and 5th Street SW in attempt to contact a suspect wanted on multiple felony domestic violence related charges and fleeing from police a few days prior after brandishing a sword.

As police made contact, the male stated he had a firearm and refused to exit the duplex. The surrounding residences were evacuated for safety reasons leaving the male alone in the residence. Puyallup Police called out their SWAT team as well as getting assistance from the Washington State Patrol SWAT team, who took over tactical command when they arrived.

According to police, the male was threatening suicide by cop but police were determined to have a peaceful resolution. They stated their first goal was to slow everything down and establish communication.

Just before 9 p.m., the SWAT team moved in deploying flash bangs and using an armored vehicle to ram the front door down. The suspect then surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.
