Impairment Suspected in Early Morning Crash

Federal Way Police respond to a crash around 3 a.m. that knocked out power to a nearby apartment complex.

Just before 3 a.m., Federal Way Police responded to a single vehicle collision in the 31100 block of 28th Avenue S. Upon their arrival, Officers found a vehicle off the roadway on top of a padmount transformer knocking out the power to the nearby apartment complex. Officers checked on the driver and found him slipping in and out of consciousness and requested South King Fire to expedite to their location.

South King Fire and Rescue arrived and had to cut the subject out of the vehicle. He was transported by medics to Harborview Medical Center. According to Federal Way Police, his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening and there is suspicion that the driver was impaired. Puget Sound Energy was on scene to fix the broken transformer but did not have an estimate for when the repair would be completed.
