Male in Mental Crisis Climbs Pole in Pioneer Square

A male suffering from a possible mental crisis was forcibly removed from a pole across the court house in Pioneer Square

Seattle, WA: Just before 2 p.m., Seattle Police with negotiators Seattle Fire responded to Pioneer Square for a male that climbed a pole. The male appears to be suffering a mental crisis and was refusing to come down off the pole.

After attempts were unsuccessful to get the male down, Seattle Police were clearing the area when the male decided to come lower on the pole.

Police quickly moved in as he tried to climb back up taking him into protective custody.

A private ambulance transported the male to a local hospital.
