Miraculously Minor Injuries in Crash Requiring Jaws of Life to Free Driver

Crews worked tirelessly to free the driver who somehow walked out of the vehicle when crews freed his pinned leg.

Federal Way, WA: Just after 1:15 a.m., South King Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 33000 block of 21st Street Southwest for a reported two vehicle collision with Federal Way Police on location.

As crews were responding, police advised that the driver of one of the vehicles was trapped and unable to get out.

Crews arrived to find a red BMW sedan with heavy front end damage and a Mazda down the road with minor damage. The driver of the red BMW was trapped inside his vehicle by his leg.

Crews worked tirelessly for thirty minutes to free the driver. Once crews created enough space inside the vehicle, the driver walked out and met with EMTs from American Medical Response.

Both the driver and passenger of the red BMW were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

​Federal Way police are investigating the cause.
