One in Custody After Officer Involved Shooting, Carjacking, and Standoff

One suspect was taken into custody after an officer involved shooting, a carjacking, and a short standoff in Burien.

Just before 4 p.m., officers from the Normandy Park Police Department attempted to contact a suspect and shortly afterwards the suspect fired on the officers. Officers returned fire and the suspect fled on foot and carjacked a vehicle before crashing it in the 15800 block of 1st Avenue S in Burien. The suspect barricaded himself in the vehicle and after a short standoff was taken into custody.

King County Sheriff Department is investigating the officer involved shooting and reports that there were no injuries from the shooting. 1st Avenue S will be closed for several hours from 160th to 156th for the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and will update when more information becomes available.
