One person has died following a large 2-alarm fire on north 26th Street in Tacoma overnight.

Tacoma, WA: Just before 2:30 a.m., crews with Tacoma Police and Fire were dispatched to the Marine Terrace Apartments in the block of north 26th Street for a possible fire. When emergency crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a 2nd story apartment extending up to the third floor.

It was also reported that a person might have been trapped inside the unit that was on fire.

Due to the possible rescue, size of the building, and the amount of fire, a 2nd alarm was struck.

Crews made an aggressive offensive attack and were able to enter the unit of fire and contain the blaze before it spread any further.

Sadly crews located one victim that was pronounced deceased.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
