Pedestrian Airlifted After Being Struck by Possible DUI Driver in Covington

A vehicle being driven at high speeds in Covington strikes a pedestrian, several power poles, and construction equipment

Covington, WA: Just after 12:30 a.m., emergency crews received multiple reports of a collision in the 26400 block of 164th avenue southeast in Covington.

When crews arrived, they found a pedestrian down in the roadway that was apparently hit at high rate of speed by a vehicle that was not immediately located.

As crews searched the area they found a Subaru just to the north of the scene up a hill that had crashed into an unoccupied construction excavator.

Sheriff's Deputies with King County Sheriff's Office contacted that driver and they were arrested for vehicular assault with alcohol possibly being a factor.

The pedestrian was airlifted from the location to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in unknown condition.

King County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Reconstruction and Response Team (M.A.R.R.) is on the scene investigating.
