Photography Takes Tragic Turn as Female Falls Down Hillside at Viewpoint

A female attempting to, or in the process of taking a photo falls 75 to 100 feet down steep hillside injuring her arm.

Tacoma, WA: Emergency crews with the Tacoma Fire Department responded to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge viewpoint within Point Defiance Park for reports of a woman who had fallen down the hillside and was injured.

Arriving crews immediately requested their Technical Rescue Team to respond in stabilizing, and assisting the female off the hillside.

"It appears the female was in the process of, or attempting to take a photo on or near a tree on the hillside when she fell 75 to 100 feet," stated Tacoma Fire Battalion Chief Steve Collins. Chief Collins stresses that people who visit the park maintain their situational awareness and heed large signs posted warning people to avoid the hillsides, especially with more pleasant weather around the corner.
