Smoke Detectors Alert Homeowners to Escape as Fire Destroys Their Home in Kent

Kent, WA: Just after 9:30 a.m., crews with Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority received a report of a house on fire in the 27500 block of 126th Avenue SE. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire to the garage area extending into the home.

Crews made an aggressive attack and were able to get the fire under control in about twenty minutes. Crews did rescue a cat from the building and it was treated with oxygen by King County Medic One.

The fire displaced the two occupants. One of the occupants told fire officials that their smoke alarm went off alerting them to the fire and allowed them to safely evacuate with no injures.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
