Sprinkler System Saves Building in Two Alarm Fire at Lakewood AutoZone

Jacob Kimerer

The building's sprinkler system saved this fire from being a major disaster, no injuries reported.

Lakewood, WA: Just before 1 a.m., crews with West Pierce Fire and Rescue were called to the AutoZone in the 9500 block of Bridgeport Way Southwest for a possible commercial structure fire.

Upon arriving, crews found an electrical box on the side of the building on fire with it extending into the building.

Due to the size of the building and potential it was in the attic of the structure, crews struck a second alarm.

Crews were able to make entry and find a majority of the fire controlled by the sprinkler system in the building.

Crews are working to extinguish all remaining hot spots.

Cause is under investigation and no injuries reported.
