A suspected hit-and-run driver had to be cut out of their vehicle after crashing while fleeing military police.

Parkland, WA: At around 8 p.m. this evening, Joint Base Lewis McChord Military Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle after it was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run while on base.

That driver took off from military police officers and a pursuit ensued through the streets of Lakewood and Parkland.

The pursuit came to a crashing halt though at the intersection of Spanaway Loop Road South and Military Road South.

Initial reports are that the suspect driver was unconscious following the crash that flipped a work van onto its roof.

Crews with Central Pierce Fire and Rescue were called to treat that driver and extricate them from the vehicle using cutters and the Jaws of Life.

At this time, the condition of the driver is not known.

The driver of the white work van was able to free themselves and was not injured.
