Two-Alarm Garage Fire Threatens Multiple Homes in Gig Harbor Overnight

Crews fought this fire defensively due to the amount of involvement of the structure and obvious collapse risks.

Gig Harbor, WA: Just before 2 a.m., fire crews with Gig Harbor Fire Department were dispatched to a reported residential garage fire in the 3100 block of 73rd Avenue Court Northwest.

When crews arrived, they found a large detached garage, that appeared to house recreational vehicles, fully involved threatening the main residence and a neighboring home. Crews immediately established a water supply and fought the fire defensively with the goal of protecting the exposure structures.

Crews struck a second alarm to help with defensive operations and to bring in additional crews to the city to man empty fire stations.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames within 20 minutes of arrival. Thankfully due to the quick, coordinated, and professional response of Gig Harbor Fire, the flames were knocked down before they could reach the exposure structures.

No known injuries at this time.
