Tacoma, WA: At around 7 p.m., emergency crews received several reports that a vehicle had left the roadway and crashed in the median between Interstate 5 and Interstate 705.

When crews arrived, they found that a vehicle traveling along Pacific Avenue left the roadway for unknown reasons and went over an embankment crashing into the median.

Sadly, Washington State Patrol confirms that two people were killed in the collision and a third was transported to an area trauma center with what are believed to be serious but not life threatening injuries.

State Patrol states that the driver and front passenger were not wearing seat belts and ejected during the crash. The third person was in the backseat and was wearing their seat belt. Troopers believed that that passenger is alive today because they were wearing that seat belt.

It is not known if speed or alcohol/drugs were a factor in this deadly crash.
