*Update* Man Walks to the Police Station to Report Homicide in Edmonds

A 24-year-old man is in custody after walking into the Edmonds Police Station to report he stabbed his father to death.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the examination and confirmed the identification of the 64-year-old male who was found in his residence near the 18700 block of 84th Avenue West in Edmonds, Washington on November 21, 2019.

The decedent is Steven J. Fry of Edmonds, Washington. The cause of death is incised wounds of the neck. The manner of death is Homicide. For further information, please contact the Edmonds Police Department.

Original Narrative

Edmonds, WA: On November 21 at 2:41 a.m., Edmonds Officers received an unusual call at the station call box. A man wanted to report that he had committed a "Pre-Meditated Homicide". When contacted by officers, the man, a 24-year-old Edmonds resident said that he had just stabbed his father and walked to the police station to report it.

The man provided his address as a private residence in the 18700 block of 84th Avenue West. Officers immediately responded to the residence and discovered a 64-year-old man with multiple stab wounds inside. He was deceased when officers arrived and the residence was secured.

The 24-year-old man was taken into custody and detectives were called out to investigate further. With the assistance of the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, the crime scene was processed and evidence was collected.

Detectives are investigating this as a domestic violence incident and have confirmed the 64-year-old victim is the father of the suspect. Based on previous contacts with the suspect, his family had reported that he had a history of mental illness.

The 24-year-old man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for the crime of 1st Degree Murder.
