*Updated* Bicyclist Dead After Hit and Run on Pacific Highway

Federal Way Police are investigating a possible hit and run collision that left a bicyclist dead


Just past midnight, patrol officers responded to a male down in the roadway at the 27800 block of Pacific Hwy S. The male victim, age 34, appeared to have been struck while on his bicycle on Pacific Highway. Life saving measures were unsuccessful and the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Our Major Accident Investigation Team was called in to conduct the investigation and the roadway was closed during the investigation.

At this time neither the suspect or suspect vehicle have been identified and there were no witnesses to the collision.

Federal Way, WA: Around 12:30 a.m. Federal Way Police and South King Fire and Rescue received several reports of a person lying in the middle of Pacific Highway at 16th Avenue South. Reports indicated the person in the roadway was deceased upon being discovered.

When emergency crews arrived they found a person with significant injuries lying in the middle of the highway, a bicyclist nearby with damage to the back tire and a backpack near the sidewalk.

Emergency crews performed life saving measures but sadly the person was pronounced deceased on the scene.

There is very little information that has been released as Federal Way Police were still waiting for investigators to arrive on the scene. According to Lieutenant Wedel with Federal Way Police they are indications the person deceased was struck by something but unknown what. They are waiting for investigators to arrive to put that all together.

Expect Southbound Pacific Highway from South 275th to remain closed for the remainder of the night.
