Weapon Leads to Teenager Shot by Police During Traffic Stop in Kent

Kent Police shot and wounded a teenager suspect after a traffic stop where cops spot a weapon.

Kent, WA: Around 12:30 a.m., an unidentified Kent Police Department officer made a traffic stop on East Pioneer in between Central Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Kent.

During the brief interaction, the officer radioed for assistance due to the driver of the vehicle having a weapon.

In between other officer's arriving to help the officer that initiated the stop, multiple rounds were fired at the driver striking him at least twice.

Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla states that the driver is believed to be a teenager male and last update was the driver was in stable condition at an area trauma center.

The Valley Regional Investigation Team is taking over the investigation of this scene.

At this time the type of weapon is not known.
