Windy Weather the Possible Cause of a Billboard Falling onto 56th in Tacoma

Jacob Kimerer

A billboard comes crashing onto the busy south 56th during a strong frontal system pushed through.

Tacoma, WA: At around 5:30 p.m., crews with Tacoma Power and Tacoma Fire were dispatched to the intersection of South 56th and South Durango Street on a reported electrical emergency according to computer records.

When crews arrived, they found that a billboard advertisement had toppled over onto south 56th possibly striking power lines.

Crews secured the scene and called in Tacoma Public Works to assist in removing the twisted metal from the sign.

No official cause of the sign toppling over, but there was a strong weather system that came through the area at that time with gusty winds.
