Chemical Company Pipe Leak Sends Spray Into Air

Hazmat crews yet to determine what the chemical is, or how much has been leaked.

June 15th, 2019: At around 8 p.m., Houston Fire Department received 911 calls for a liquid shooting into the air from a large pipe in a field near the intersection of Blue Bell Road and Veterans Memorial. Units arrived to find a large stream of fluid shooting 30-40 feet into the air. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the property and the pipe belonged to a chemical company. Harris County Hazmat, along with Pollution Control, made the scene and monitored the area, as well as contained the leak. A rep for the company eventually showed up on scene but was not able to determine exactly what chemical was leaked.
