Child Flown by Lifeflight After Accident

Rear-end crash seriously injures child who is flown to hospital via helicopter.

TX: Just before 10 p.m., Northwest Volunteer Fire and Harris County Sheriffs Office responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at Old Bammel North Houston and State Highway 249. When crews arrived, they found two vehicles with moderate damage blocking the intersection. Upon assessing the occupants of both vehicles, they found an 8-year-old female that was in the back seat of the Chevy HHR in serious condition. Due to her injuries, Memorial Hermann Lifeflight was requested to fly the child to a local trauma center to better treat her injuries. Crash Investigation deputies at the scene were able to determine right away that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. They are still investigating why the child was so seriously injured. We asked investigators if the child was restrained and they told us it was too early in the investigation to make a determination.
