Twelve apartment units destroyed in early morning fire.

Houston TX: Early Sunday morning just after 1a.m., crews with the Little York Fire Department responded to the Monticello Apartments at 13913 Ella Blvd for multiple reports of an apartment fire. The first unit quickly arrived to find a two-story common attic apartment building with heavy fire through the roof as well as the entire second floor. Given the size of the fire and the deteriorating conditions, the first unit quickly upgraded the fire to a 2-11 and established command. Crews began to defensively attack the fire on the main fire building but had to first focus on cooling the exposure of an adjoining building. Crews from Ponderosa Fire, Northwest Fire, Aldine Fire, Spring Fire, and South Montgomery Fire assisted in bringing the fire under control. At this time, the Red Cross has been contacted for a total of 12 units that were destroyed in the blaze. Harris County Fire Marshal is on location, the cause of the fire is not known at this time.
