Tustin: Officers Remove Man from Vehicle After Pursuit Termination Standoff

Officers used less-lethal ammunition to subdue a suspect who refused to comply after a high-speed pursuit in Santa Ana.

INCIDENT DETAILS:

  1. A man led Santa Ana Police officers on a high speed pursuit before coming to a stop in a gas station;
  2. The man, who appeared to be intoxicated, refused to comply with officers and exit the vehicle;
  3. After waiting for the man to comply, officers used less than lethal ammunition to shoot out the windows of the suspect's vehicle;
  4. The man continued to refuse to comply and a team of officers moved in to physically extricate the man without incident;
  5. The suspect was placed into custody and treated on scene by firefighter paramedics before being transported to an area hospital;
  6. The Santa Ana and Tustin Police Departments are handling the investigation.
