NYPD Arrest Celebrity Photographer in Times Square (Updated).

Steve Sands, a celebrity photographer, was arrested earlier today in Times Square as he was apparently trying to take photos of the film set of the television show Smash.

Not much info is available at this time but the above video was posted moments ago and some photos were posted earlier today.

UPDATE: Sands, who has a notorious reputation of getting kicked out of film sets, apparently was arrested for crossing the police barricade of the film set, which is why he was arrested.

Check out the video below, but first read what was written about him in the New York Times in 2004.

Nathan Hale Died For the Red Carpet
Let us consider the case of STEVE SANDS.
Over the course of his 25- year career as a paparazzo, Mr. Sands has been booted from movie sets, kicked out of parties and charged with a hit and run (a charge that was later thrown out); according to other photographers, he has screamed at publicists and shouted at celebrities; and recently he gained notoriety when, at the premiere of ”The Punisher”, he noisily offered his thoughts about the reasons for REBECCA ROMIJN-STAMOS’s divorce when she wouldn’t pose for the cameras. The list goes on, but this may shed a little light on why he was named, by The New York Press, one of the 50 most loathsome New Yorkers.
It wasn’t surprising, then, to hear that a petition was being circulated to keep him at a distance at celebrity events. Touchy, touchy publicists, right?
”It was my idea,” said MATT BARON, a young and, how shall we say, rather unselfconscious photographer who works for BEImages , a photo agency.
