Joshua Brown

Drunk driving with a kid in the car is just not a good idea, drunk driving isn't a good idea at all.

A cop in Newport News, Va was caught drunk driving with a kid in the same car.

On August 19, Detective Justin Briggs, 36, of the Newport News Police Department was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The minor is one of Briggs family members.

Reports from WAVY show that Briggs was pulled over at the midnight hour, officers then determined Briggs to be intoxicated and placed him under arrest. Police also discovered a young child in the car. The child was taken to a safe location and handed over to a responsible family member.

Thankfully, no one was injured. Briggs was off duty at the time of the incident.

Briggs was released on bond and has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending an internal investigation.

Briggs joined the department in 2008.
