Deputy left with Concussion after Cop Arrests him for Cursing in own Yard
The Pulaski County sheriff's deputy was drunk, vulgar and insulting, telling the cops on his property they were nothing but rookies, a pair of "stupid motherf*ckers."
The Sherwood police officers who were responding to a noise complaint ordered him to stop cursing.
"I will do what I want on my property," responded deputy Robert "Bobby" Ward.
Ward ended up thrown to the ground and arrested after calling the cop what sounds like "fuckhead" in the bodycam video released this week. Local media bleeped that part out in the raw video.
The arrest took place on June 13 and left Ward with a concussion and extensive nerve damage that will take months to heal. He was also cited for public intoxication, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct which led to his termination from the sheriff's office.
According to KARK which obtained the video:
In the body camera footage, Ward appears to become uncooperative as officers ask for a phone number. Ward asks the officers “why” a couple times before asking how long they have been on the force.
Ward’s wife, who identifies herself as a Searcy police employee, appears to try calming her husband down several times.
Ward is then heard on camera calling the Sherwood officers “rookies” and other names riddled with curse words.
After asking Ward to stop cursing, Ward curses again prompting the Sherwood officers to initiate an arrest. Screaming and a physical takedown can be heard as officers take Ward to the ground and place handcuffs on him.
Ward is then seen covered in blood as medics arrive to bandage him up and take him to a hospital.
Ward had worked for the North Little Rock Police Department from 1997 to 2016 before he was hired by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. The arresting officer said he was not a rookie because he had been on the force about four years.
The video is not embeddable but it can be viewed here. Things start going downhill after the cops ask for his phone number and he refuses to provide it.
