50-year-old Alejandro Escobar was a security guard at Deerfield Beach Middle School until he was arrested by the Broward Sheriff’s Office on October 30 for having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl at the school. Escobar also coached volleyball and soccer at the school located in Deerfield Beach, FL.
Escobar took advantage of the female student after she told him that she was suicidal and had sexual desires.
But instead of reporting that the teen was suicidal, Escobar developed a sexual relationship with her, telling her he loved her and kissing her.
Escobar, who is now facing charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and failing to report, was booked into the Broward’s Main Jail on a $40,000 bond, after admitting that he kissed the minor victim's neck and grabbed her buttocks.
CBS Miami reports the girl met Escobar in the beginning of the school year and he gave her a notebook for her to write down what she was thinking. The victim would write to Escobar almost every day. The teen would meet him three times a day and on some occasions Escobar met with the girl in the bathroom during school hours.
Escobar eventually began to hug and kiss the victim on the cheek and told the victim that he loved her.
According to the arrest report, the teen told her mother that on Friday October 26 she went to Escobar’s office and he kissed her neck several times, while grabbing her buttocks and placing his hand under her shirt. She also told her mother that Escobar tried to get her to kiss him, but she refused and left.
Later that day Escobar approached the victim and asked her if he made her feel uncomfortable. Scared that Escobar was going to do something to her, she lied and told the defendant that she was okay.
After Friday’s incident, during a recorded phone call, Escobar told the teen he did remember touching her, but blamed the medication he was on.
On Tuesday, Escobar was arrested. According to the report, he initially denied the allegation and said “that the child kissed him on the lips and he might have kissed her on the neck and touched her lower back, which he demonstrated to be the buttocks area.”
Escobar also advised that he never reported that the child was suicidal because he thought he could handle it himself.
Broward Sheriff’s Office detective Sira Arroyo said:
> “The great thing about this case is that the child had a good relationship with her mother and was able to come to her mother, and have an open relationship with her, and told her that there was inappropriate contact with the security guard.”
