Nashville Officer Arrested After Crashing Truck on Highway While Drunk
A Nashville detective has been arrested and required to turn in her badge and gun after she crashed her pickup truck while driving drunk east of the city.
Metro Nashville Police Department Officer Sandra Luther, a 19-year veteran of the department was arrested on the morning of Saturday Nov. 10 for drunk driving and crashing on a highway.
Luther was not on duty and was not armed at the time of the crash. Luther crashed on a interstate in Wilson County.
Reports from WKRN News shows the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to 911 calls of a pickup truck that was weaving on I-40, then found the truck rolled over near I-840. Luther, the only occupant of the truck, was not injured. Luther smelled like alcohol, admitted to drinking and submitted to a blood test.
Luther was arrested and briefly held in the Wilson County jail, then released Saturday. She was decommissioned from the police department, which means she is required to relinquish her badge and service weapon. Also her policing authority has been suspended. However, she remains an employee.
