Watch: Florida Cop that Hit Teen in Face Resigns from Department

This Florida sheriff's deputy hit a teenager in the face when he thought no one was looking

A sheriff’s deputy in Fort Myers, Florida has resigned after he was caught on video striking a teenager in the face while the teen was wearing handcuffs. Deputy Blake Grossi of the Lee County Sheriff's Office elbowed 17-year-old Bienvenido Roman in the face during an arrest on February 12.

Grossi didn't know that a neighbor was video recording the incident when he struck Roman in the face without provocation. On February 20 Lee County Sheriff announced that Grossi had resigned from his duties. Grossi was initially put on administrative leave after the assault, according to NBC 2 News.

A Statement from Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno:

“On Thursday, February 14, 2019, I learned of an incident where a suspect in our custody was mistreated. Regardless of what occurred prior to this incident, our deputies are held to the highest standards, we respect everyone’s constitutional rights, and we will not tolerate mistreatment of any suspect. The deputy involved has resigned, and is no longer subject to our internal disciplinary process; however, this does not end our responsibility, the matter is being referred to the State Attorney’s Office for review.”

I just think it's pretty sad that you can have a stand-up officer and trust me I know this I had met officer Grossi many times. I have a small son that wants to be an officer and every time we saw officer Blake out he would take time to talk with my son show him everything in his truck he was all about public relations for his County. Took time out of his day to bring my son an officer's ball cap and the smallest officer shirt he could find. My son adores him! That is his officer Idol! He was an officer that deserves to be an officer and I am not sure how a video like that where he is barely giving him a little smack upside the head it can be made into something that huge and that everything the officer had been working for now means nothing because of it! This is the same kid that was always speeding carrying weapons threatening children just a scary person and right before that incident happened he was actually flying through a school zone at about a hundred miles an hour coming close to hitting a six-year-old child which I think would upset any of us and would want to be the one to just smack someone upside the head I mean yeah he shouldn't have done it but he didn't punch him in the face he didn't really hurt him at all and where is all his backup? his team ? I just really think it's a shame that he worked so hard to get where he was just to have to throw it away over something like this I will never understand this Lee County lost them a great officer and I hope they know that!!!

He resigned and wasn't charged with a crime. So now he'll find another cop job somewhere else and his abusive behavior will continue. This is what they do with pedophile priests. Way to go, Lee County Sheriff's Office; way to go.

Haha. I bet he's got some problems in his personal life. Smacking around helpless people is not exactly the behavior of a mentally healthy person.

Should now be charged, convicted and jailed for assault.
