Watch: Florida Sheriff’s Officer Arrested and Fired for Beating Handcuffed Woman

A rookie Florida law enforcement officer who was caught on video beating a handcuffed woman was fired and arrested Thursday.

Jacksonville sheriff’s officer Akinyemi Borisade, 26, was charged with simple battery.

However, sheriff officials said he will have a chance at “name clearing,” which will enable him to be hired at another law enforcement agency, according to News 4 Jax.

The incident took place Wednesday inside the jail while sheriff’s officers were processing inmates that had just been arrested.

The woman has been identified as Mayra Alejandra Martinez, who was arrested on her first day at her job at a local strip club named Scores where she had gotten into a dispute with management.

She was charged with trespassing and resisting arrest, according to the Florida Times-Union.

The video shows her walking towards officers while in handcuffs, which prompts Borisade to grab her by the arms and shove her hard against a wall.

She responds by kicking at him, but it is not even clear if she even strikes him.

But that sent Borisade into a rage where he repeatedly punches her as one officer casually looks on.

Eventually, another officer walks up and pulls him off her. The officers walk away as the woman falls to the floor.

Borisade was hired in March 2015 and was still on his probationary period, which was why it was so easy to fire him.
