Nurses Bail Out Dad Arrested for Racing his Choking Baby to Hospital in Traffic
An Illinois father has a group of nurses to thank for bonding him out of jail after he was arrested for breaking traffic laws while speeding to a hospital to save his daughter who was choking on a penny.
After arriving at Touchette Regional Hospital, more than a handful of officers from different departments in Centreville were behind him.
Darius Hinkle admits he does not have a valid driver's license, according to Fox2Now.
But he says he was just trying to save his daughter.
"The first thing in my mind was to get her to the hospital," Hinkle said.
Hinkle was taken into custody for breaking several traffic laws and not having a license.
But his dedication to his daughter was not lost on the nurses at the hospital.
When the 1-year-old girl's mother went to pick up Hinkle at the jail, she found the names of women she did not recognize who chipped in to pay his bail.
That's when she discovered the nurses from the hospital had beaten her to the punch and bailed him out.
"I can't thank them enough," Hinkle said after his release.
