Georgia Cops Shoot 11-month-old Puppy after Responding to Wrong Address

Savannah cops forced their way into the back door of the wrong house and shot the dog.

For the second time in less than a month, police shot a dog after responding to the wrong address.

This time, unlike the last time, the dog survived.

The latest shooting took place Sunday in Savannah when police from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitian Police Department responded to a house alarm.

However, the house alarm was going off in the 100 block of E. 58 Street but police say the dispatcher gave them the wrong address, which is why they showed up to a house in the 1000 block of E. 58 Street, almost a mile away.

Police arrived at the home at 4 a.m. and forced their way through a back door which was when Rock, an 11-month-old puppy made them fear for their lives.

According to WTOC:

Savannah PD said that the officers were checking the house's doors when the dog rushed them. One officer responded by firing at the dog, hitting it and also sending a bullet through a door and into a washing machine. The officers rushed the dog to an emergency vet, and he was later transported to a vet in Charleston by Savannah PD K9 officers.

Despite the mistake, homeowner Wanda Moore says she's angry, and just wants her dog to be okay.

"He's like one of my grandchildren. He acts like my grandbaby ladybug. He's spoiled rotten. He's spoiled," said Wanda Moore, one of Rock's owners.

She says the things that scared her the most is that the bullet could have hit one of her family members.

"They shot it up and shot up the washing machine and all," Moore said. "My husband woke me up and told me that the police shot our dog."

Savannah police rushed the dog to a vet and have agreed to foot its medical bills.

Cops and their dispatch systems are all screwed up. Shoot first, ALWAYS. Better to ask forgiveness than permission. Or, in police jargon, "Kill it, we can sort it out later."

Wow, they rushed the to a vet and will foot the bill! BFD! Dispatcher needs to be fired for their are consequences when giving out wrong information, just like Air Traffic Controllers. The Police need to understand their are no excuses when they go onto private land without probable cause which they did not have, Once they fire their weapon they own the bullet just like everyone else. They shot the washing machine and could have killed someone which would be manslaughter for anyone else. The laws must be applied for the cops for Society to respect the police. No amount of training can give this DoucheBag Cop Common sense because he was scared!
