An Atlantic City police officer threatened to sic a dog on a teenager for recording him during a traffic stop. The cop also threatened to knock the teen out if he did not stop recording.
The teen turned the camera off.
The video is dark but appears to show at least two young black males sitting in a car during a traffic stop with the cop standing outside their car window, telling one of them to “take that phone and stick it out of my face.”
The cop goes on to say he will allow his “90 pound dog to rip the fuck out of you.”
“And if your hand doesn’t disappear, I’m going to knock you the fuck out,” the cop said in reference to the hand that is holding the phone recording him.
“You start acting the fucking fool, I will drag you out of this fucking window.”
The teen apologizes, but the cop continues to threaten him, telling him “we’ll step out and bang,” making it seem as if would be a fair fight when we know it would be anything but.
“You’re on lawful detention,” the cop continues. “You’re not allowed to have your cell phone. You understand?
“You’re not allowed to use it, so you can turn yours off right now. Otherwise, I’m going to skip it right down …..”
The phone then goes off.
The only description accompanying the video on the Mediatakeout Facebook page is the following:
SHOCK VIDEO: Atlantic City, NJ Police Officer Threatens To Sick His POLICE DOG On Black Teenagers . . . Who “DARED’ To Video Him!! #StopPoliceViolence #BlackLivesMatter
We will be updating this story as we receive more information.
One thing we do know is the cop was likely recording because at one point, he tells the teens that “my camera is on so don’t worry about it.”
But then there’s also the chance that the cop “forgot” to turn it on as we’ve seen so many times in the past.
Atlantic City internal affairs told local media that the cop, whose name has not been released, has been placed on paid administrative leave, saying “the language and tone used by our officer in the video is concerning and is not condoned by this department.”
