Do you feel too heavy with the end of year celebrations and you are looking for a miracle remedy to eliminate this engulfed turkey from the head to the wings? For some time, nutrition enthusiasts have discovered and praised the benefits of turmeric, a spice from the rhizome, the root of a tree traditionally cultivated in Asia.

An article from Discover Magazine tells us that turmeric is multifunctional and that it can be used in all kinds of preparations such as smoothies, milk cafes, teas and even soups. Its benefits are so famous that many people take turmeric supplements for their joints, against cardiovascular disease and, more recently, to get rid of extra pounds.

As its name can let it guess, turmeric contains curcumin, its main compound responsible not only for its yellow color, but also for its health assets. According to Lina Begdache, dietician and professor at New York State University in Binghamton (United States), “Curcumin A of powerful anti-inflammatory effects, it can help reduce chronic inflammation linked to diseases such as arthritis, cardiovascular diseases and inflammatory intestine diseases.”

Magic substance

Curcuma also contains antioxidants known to neutralize many free radicals, these molecules which can damage the cells of the body and cause neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases as well as cancers. It also reduces the impact of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, with fewer side effects than taking medication. Curcumin also has brain benefits, stimulating the growth of new neurons and decreasing the risk of cognitive impairment that occurs over the years.

And that’s not all. Turmeric has been shown to help lose weight thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin. Scientists still face many mysteries when it comes to understanding the mechanism of action between turmeric and weight loss. According to an article published in January 2022, taking curcumin eliminates adipose cells – which store lipids.

All the profits of turmeric make you want to consume it? Nothing could be simpler, since it is only a question of adding half a teaspoon of this powdered spice in hot milk with coffee to prepare a good comforting snack in winter. You can also add it to other drinks (hot or cold) such as teas or smoothies, always respecting the maximum quantity of half a rush per day. If you can’t do without it, add turmeric in your soups, stews, and even on your salads.
