On May 7, 2025, a webcam installed near the Hotel clansman, in the north of Loch Ness in Scotland, immortalized a scene that already shudder the amateurs of the Nessie monster. The online media Daily Galaxy explains that Eoin O’Faodhagain, an Irish monster hunter and accustomed to the Loch, monitored the video flow of the camera when he observed “A great disturbance” In calm waters, less than 30 meters from the shore. According to him, “A creature broke the surface, raised a few feet, then plunged back into the depths».

O’Faodhagain did not hesitate for a second: “It was too big to be a otter, a seal or a fish. Certainly, it did not look like any known animal and I have never seen fish with a neck and a bumpy back. ” For him, it would be a “Young nessie”filmed by “Playing with your prey”, Surely a fish, before devouring it. Obviously, we advise you to take this testimony with all the regulatory tweezers …

The legend of Loch Ness does not date from yesterday. The first stories date back to the year 565 AD, when the Irish missionary Saint Columba would have tamed a giant creature that terrorized the population. But it was in 1933, after the testimony of a local couple published in the Inverness Courier, that the “Nessie-Mania” exploded. Since then, photos, testimonies and hoaxes (such as the famous 1934 photo, ultimately unmasked) have fueled the myth, with more than 1,000 reports identified to date.

Dino or tree branch?

Science, it obviously remains much more cautious. The explanations put forward range from the simple misunderstanding (seal, giant sturgeon, floating trunk, capricious wave) to more eccentric hypotheses, like that of a plesiosaur survivor of the Cretaceous. Some also evoke the Scottish Pins fallen into the Loch, which, by decomposing, would release gas bubbles and create the illusion of creatures emerging from the waters.

Researchers like Steve Feltham, who has observed this lake for over twenty years, recall that many observations are very simply explained, by local fauna or by natural phenomena. But the absence of evidence is not proof of absence, and legend continues to fascinate. Loch and its imaginary monster have become one of the most famous tourist attraction today in the country.

This new episode occurs while at this very moment an event, “The Quest”, a great monster hunt organized from May 22 to 25, 2025. On the program: debates, cruises with hydrophones, watch watched and even family activities to dive into the secrets of the Loch – literally and figuratively. The objective? Gather clues, debate theories and who knows how to meet the most elusive star of Scotland.

The webcams turn continuously, ready to grasp the slightest suspicious quivering.
