Some people never suffer from a hangover and we would like to know their secrets

It is a pain that we know almost all of them. That of Sunday morning, the day after an evening so watered that everything is blurred, except one thing, very clear: “Never again”. This is the price to pay when you consume too much alcohol: headache, intestinal pain but also anxiety. Some individuals, of which you may be part, bunch of lucky people, have never experienced a hangover. These few elected officials live the cooktop after without any backlash and can display their usual enthusiasm as if nothing had happened. Who are they? What is their secret?

The New York Times reports that for the past fifteen years, researchers have been looking at these “wood -shaped resistants” to understand what differentiates them from the ordinary people. Why are they exempt from this suffering specific to humans since the invention of mead. For the moment, we don’t really know. The only observation that we can make is that they exist and that they are not that rare.

Their existence was discovered a little by chance in 2008. At the time, a study published on the National Library of Medicine sought to understand to what extent the consumption of alcohol could alter the work capacity of its participants. Result: a quarter of them seemed not to be affected at all.

The researchers then deepened the study thanks to several experiments. To do this, they made sufficient alcohol subjects drink and have asked them series of questions the next day to measure how much they suffered. Scientists also examined studies conducted previously on adults, some of whom were followed for disorders linked to alcohol consumption. “It was the same figure again and again”says Dr. Howland, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Boston (Massachusetts) and co-author of the study.

Several hypotheses, no certainty

If no certainty exists as to resistance to the mouth of wood, certain theories are mentioned by scientists. It would be a genetic factor that would first determine whether a person has this gift or not. According to Ann-Kathrin Stock, neuroscientist at the technical university of Dresden in Germany, people who metabolize the alcohol as quickly as possible would tend to have less serious wood gules.

Furthermore, the doctor claims that those who feel the least the side effects of the drink are often people with a low level of daily anxiety. On the contrary, those who are subject to stress and anxiety will, as a rule, have all the more difficult.

More broadly, another theory explains that people with a lower immune system will tend to collect alcohol more laboriously than resistant people. While waiting for one of these theories to be confirmed, or that we discover the secret to no longer have a hangover, it is important to listen to your body and your head. And of course, always to drink in moderation.
