She had attracted the attention of the whole world for timidly niting her silver medal, trying to imitate her two Italian counterparts on the podium of the Paris Olympic Games on August 5. Only a week after this second place in the final of the beam with the ladies, the Chinese gymnast Zhou Yaqin has again become viral, this time to have been filmed serving dishes in the restaurant of his family.

In a video of the Chinese channel in English CGTN, the 18 -year -old athlete helps his parents in the service, in their establishment in Hengyang (Hunan province, interior of the country). The number two Olympic, which always carries its uniform of the Olympic Games while it serves customers, has again aroused many reactions, notes the British daily The Independent.

A marketing strategy?

Zhou Yaqin simply visited his family in Hengyang, his hometown, for the holidays. The simple fact that she is working on the task within the family business was enough to offer her second buzz in a week. The video, published on August 13, has been viewed almost three million times since its online, for more than 20,000 likes to date.

“It is touching to see Zhou Yaqin reconcile his Olympic triumph and his family obligations. What a humility! “writes a user on the social network X (formerly Twitter). For some, however, it would be a marketing operation reflected by his parents. “She has won a silver medal, but she offers a gold level service to restaurant customers. She even carried her sports outfit. What a good marketing blow for the restaurant!»»can we read under the same publication.

Another example of a reaction on X: “Working hard and making money for your family is noble job. It can be proud. The moment of his medal is immortalized in the web world. ” Without more details, Internet users have estimated that “something (was not going))»» In this video, doubting the sincerity of the staging.

After winning, on August 5, at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, the silver medal in the test of the beam in female artistic gymnastics, Zhou Yaqin had found the world after his innocent reaction to the cameras, at the time of the medal handing over.

While the two Italian gymnasts, Alice d’Amato (21 years old, gold medalist) and Manila Esposito (17, bronze medalist) crunched their respective new medals, as tradition, the very young Chinese gymnast had appeared. Before trying to the Olympic ritual, without really biting the medal, simply holding it just in front of her mouth.
